Constructing model assess impacts of climate change on fields: labor, employment, poverty reduction, social assistance, children, gender.

Main researchcontent

  • Establish criteria for impacts of climate changes on mentioned fields;
  • Establish model of input criteria to assess impacts of climate change;
  • Test the model assessing impacts of climate change in 3 provinces Son La, Ha Tinh, KienGiang.

Research results

The research clearly claimed that climate change had occurred in nearly all around the world. Vietnam was ranked 5th in the list of countries most vulnerable with climate change.  Geographical location of Vietnam increased the vulnerability of Vietnam to climate change both in climate patterns when sea level rose and ingradually narrowed acreage of farming land. Without appropriate and effective measures to reduce the harmful effects of climate change, consequences would be incalculable such as loss of productive land, reduced productivity, unsustainable livelihoods, migrant labor and risk of local poverty affecting national food security.

The research constructed the criterion and model assessing impacts of climate change. The application of the model would assess the impact the province-like climate change at 3 provinces Son La, Ha Tinh, KienGiang.

However, the scope of climate change impact assessment was still limited due to difficulties in statistics collection.
